GPT4 vs Bard: A Battle of Wits and Words

GPT4 vs Bard: A Battle of Wits and Words

Have you ever wondered who would win in a contest of writing between the latest and greatest natural language generation system, GPT4, and the most famous and revered poet and playwright of all time, William Shakespeare? Well, wonder no more, because we have put them to the test in this epic showdown of literary prowess!

We have asked GPT4 and the Bard to write on three different topics: love, death, and cheese. We have also given them some constraints: they have to write in the style of a sonnet, a haiku, and a limerick, respectively. Here are the results:

Topic: Love Style: Sonnet

GPT4:

My love for you is like a burning flame

That warms my heart and fills my soul with light

You are the sun that brightens up my day

And the moon that guides me through the night

You are the star that sparkles in my eye

And the flower that blossoms in my hand

You are the song that lifts me when I sigh

And the melody that makes me understand

You are the joy that fills my life with bliss

And the peace that calms my troubled mind

You are the kiss that makes me feel like this

And the one that I have longed to find

You are my everything, my all, my true

And I will always be in love with you

Bard:

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?

Thou art more lovely and more temperate

Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May

And summer's lease hath all too short a date

Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines

And often is his gold complexion dimmed

And every fair from fair sometime declines

By chance or nature's changing course untrimmed

But thy eternal summer shall not fade

Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st

Nor shall death brag thou wander'st in his shade

When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st

So long as men can breathe or eyes can see

So long lives this and this gives life to thee

Topic: Death Style: Haiku

GPT4:

Death is not the end

It is a new beginning

A journey of the soul

Bard:

Death be not proud though some have called thee

Mighty and dreadful for thou art not so

For those whom thou think'st thou dost overthrow

Topic: Cheese Style: Limerick

GPT4:

There once was a man who loved cheese

He ate it for breakfast and tea

He tried every kind

But he could not find

The one that would make him say "please"

Bard:

A merry old fellow was he

Who fancied a bit of brie

He nibbled and munched

Till he had his lunch

And then he fell ill with glee

As you can see, both GPT4 and the Bard have their strengths and weaknesses. GPT4 is more consistent and fluent, but sometimes lacks originality and creativity. The Bard is more expressive and inventive, but sometimes makes errors and inconsistencies. Who do you think is the winner? Let us know in the comments below!
